Even while you can't attain perfection, you can attain respect and satisfaction in what you do. Saying something isn't worth attempting because it isn't possible to attain perfection in it, is a very pessimistic attitude. Do you know what they say about pessimists? They are usually right, but optimists live longer, and have more fun along the way. Just remember, you are still a work in progress!

Practicing something different will improve your skills. Nobody's perfect in everything. If you want to do better than you are doing now in a particular area, it would be worth practicing that skill.

Because practice gets us as close as possible to perfection. The chance of an error can never be eliminated but it can be better avoided by practice and refined technique.

Practice doesn't make you perfect......but you must practice perfectly to achieve the best you can. No one is perfect but we should always strive to be better than we are and to achieve what we want out of life.

Because, just because someone/thing isn't "perfect" doesn't mean they aren't worthy. By practicing and constantly trying to improve, you can achieve higher levels of worthiness. Because all the immediate perfection in the world isn't worth nearly as much as trying your best.

The idea is to strive to be greater in areas where this is possible. Aim for perfection and it will essentially keep you improving for the remainder of your days on earth, or as long as you keep on practicing.

Because NOT doing anything to make improvements in or to your life is a sure recipe for NOTHING.
The saying was intended to be a motivational tool to keep people from just throwing their hands up as saying "forget it."
Use caution when taking things so literally.

Because you could get close to perfect... and that's perfection itself, since you really can't reach absolute perfection.
