I'm planning to buy Kaspersky's anti-virus software that has spyware included. Wasn't sure if their spyware was going to be that good because it seems like more of an add on. I was thinking of getting Spy Doctor for my anti spyware ap. What do you think? Should I get another anti spyware ap and is it ok if I use both at the same time (Kaspersky and Spy Doctor)?

If you're referring to Spyware Doctor, I would not recommend running that along with Kaspersky. Spyware Doctor uses a realtime engine, as does Kaspersky, for protecting against spyware, and in my experience with Spyware Doctor, it will conflict with ANY other realtime antispyware program. For programs that will not conflict, consider these freeware options:

Spyware Terminator (http://www.SpywareTerminator.com)
will provide (in my experience) nonconflicting realtime protection, while
Ad-Aware Free (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) and
Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org) will give you additional removal ability, and in the case of Spybot's innoculation feature, passive realtime protection. I do not recommend using its teatimer function.

You can not get "excellent" anti-virus and anti-spyware programs for free. They are "good enough" for some people, depending on how they use their computer.

However, the simple truth of the matter is that the better security programs cost money because those that people pay for have more put into them to attract buyers. Period.

I use Panda Internet Security Suite 2008. I have used Panda since the '05 version, after Norton (which came preinstalled on my system) crashed my five week old system. I found Panda and have never had a moments problem with viruses or spyware. Panda even gets malicious cookies too, which are spyware cookies.

I have heard good things about Kaspersky, and if that is the one you want after doing some research, then, yes, the spyware program which is a part of it should be enough. I don't think you need any other program.

I installed the free Windows Defender about two years ago, and it never caught a single item. So after having it a few months, I just removed it, as it was an additional program I didn't need taking up resources.

Whatever you decide will work best for your situation, good luck and have a nice evening.

Kaspersky got top ratings in major pc mags . No one anti spyware is enough these days as they write new garbage everyday. I would think that if you run that spyware (Kaspersky) and have ad-aware(free) and Spybot S& D you should be more than protected .
