Well, the lead would be one heck of a lot environmentally friendly than the depleted uranium we use in a lot of bombs now.

Dustin - Yes, the money angle makes sense. Too bad we allow some of our "American Interests" in other countries to do the same as England had done and we go out to protect these companies that do this,

PATTI N - Yes. I lived that, too. Lead printing plates we played with, we picked lead paint off the walls. Someone is going to point out that this has made us stupid. God, what an IQ I could have had!!!!

What is more important, saving money or saving lives. If we resort to allowing China to build our weapons for the sake of saving money, then what are we accomplishing? China does not have the greatest track record when it comes to producing "safe" items. I'm willing to bet that if we did allow China to build our weapons, it would only be a matter of time before the weapons were our own downfall, killing more of our men, than the enemy.

China already appears to be manufacturing slow acting weapons to be used against everyone. They would probably make more money if the lazy bums could just get the lead out.

Many of our weapons systems are built in foreign countries. Just because it's a US Air Force aircraft doesn't mean its flight computer was not wired in Mexico.

I used to do the final assembly in the USA, but most of the unit was built in Mexico.

For all of you joking about the lead being used - when my parents grew up and I grew up we had lead paint, lead in toys and there wasn't this deal with lead poisoning! Only poor kids in the ghetto got lead poisoning from chewing on window sills. My Dad and hias friends used to pour lead into molds to make their toy soldiers.

After the fiasco with China making toys and pet food containing lead, why would you want our troops to use weapons and ammo made in China? The weapons and ammo they use to fight with would also contain lead - Gimme a break!

Not only would there be cost savings, but the weapons would surely be more deadly what with the lead paints and harmful chemicals used too.

Already do, they stole our nuke secrets under the Clinton admin. and then they went after our stealth exhuast blueprints. The reason for this is that this was our one advantage over them and was our forward strike plan. Now they can detect our planes and we lose our big advantage over them.
Both of these would be acts of war to most countries in the world but not the good ol USA.
