When approaching an intersection slow down turn on your left turn signal and move to the immediate left side of the intersection. Watch for stop signs or lights.
This is very important: Always keep your front wheels pointing straight ahead till you actually decide to turn left. Stare closely at traffic coming at you. Trucks always appear to be moving slower than cars. Be very careful when large trucks are coming straight through the intersection. In actuality they're moving as fast or faster than smaller cars and pick-up trucks.

I've attended several driving classes and they all say the same thing. Large trucks appear to be moving slow when coming at you because of their size. It's an optical illusion as they're moving as fast or faster than cars.

When the coast is safely clear roll forward into the intersection and turn left into the right hand perpendicular street while your head and eyes are looking at the lane. Don't waste time in intersections.

And if you need to make 3 right turns to get to where you are going then so be it. It may come a problem if the roads are only one one however. May hypnosis would help.

"In California several months before, the Director's chauffeur-driven car, while making a left turn, had been struck by another car from behind. The Director had been shaken up. He had been sitting on the left side behind the driver. Now he refused to sit on the left rear seat any more and had forbidden all left turns on auto trips."
