Whats your honest opinion when somebody says that their favorite metaliica album is The Black Album?

Do you think they never heard of the first 4 albums or what else goes through your mine.

I feel that they really dont know much about metal

i just feel some people dont know the extent on what they did on their earlier works, they just prefer the one that is known in pop culture but not what metalheads know and love. It seems to me the same people who say the Black Album is the best are the same that call Linkin Park and FOB metal

Darth Maul, I so agree, If people who never hear Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All then they will never like the heavier stuff that is not polished.

I'm with you,I think they dont know much only what the radio and TV tells them,they just like whats popular and obviously dont know sh*t about metal because go pick a real metal head and they'll uaually say Puppets or Kill Em All,The Black Album doesnt even compare really,Puppets was geniously mastered in the music and lyircs easily one of the best albums ever made,And Justice had the nihilistic pissed off f*ck you attitude, Lightning was just another shot when your ears never got to stop ringing,and Kill Em All was just like a kick to the jaw if you didnt know them,the fact is they dont know much and they lose me there and they didnt hear much from the first 4 except Fade To Black,it bothers me as metalhead ya know people faking it just to try to play a part like the kids with A7X and Slipknot today

Personally, I think that when someone says they like the Black Album best, then that means they like the Black Album best... very simple, end of story.
While my favorite is Master of Puppets, I also feel that the Black Album is very well written, and has a few really decent tunes on it. (There are some I don't think are worth much; however, the majority are OK.)
This would fall into the category of people "discovering" Led Zepplin by saying that the 4th album (Stairway)was the best, and completely disregarding Zep III (which brought the acoustic realm to metal) or their debut album. Other examples would be people finally realizing that Kiss was around for Lick It Up, and knowing nothing about Destroyer.
Instead of sitting around and bad-mouthing these people, give them permission to have their opinion, and then educate them into the albums they had prior, and let them have their own opinion.

I'm not a fan of The Black Album. But it's better than a lot of stuff that passes as metal nowadays. It's also better than the REAL crap Metallica put out after that album.

Yeah, when someone says their favorite Metallica album is The Black Album, they probably haven't heard the first four albums. Those were thrash metal classics, as well as heavy metal classics.

A They must have zero taste in Metal
B they have obviously never heard Metallica's first 4 albums
Because the Black Album just sucks wind
It's better than the tripe that came afterwards though

...And, justice for all is My personal favorite but, because of it's commercial success, the earlier heavier and, in My opinion, more substantial works go largely forgotten except by the true METAL connoisseur. many bandwagon jumpers, Don't even realize that METALLICA, existed before the Black Album.

I've never found a Metallica album i haven't liked. they're all great and maybe you disagree but whatever. ya have to agree though, Metallica is waaaaaaay better than the offspring.

You are obviously not a real MetallicA fan because if you were you would realize that any music that MetallicA writes or playes is fantastic. Old or new it is all great, just different. Don't judge someones loyality to MetallicA because they have a different era that is their favorite.
