It depends. If it is a personal reflection essay or a personal statement essay (like what you would use to apply for college) then, yes, it is okay. But, for all other essays, it's not. For example, instead of writing, "I would assume," write, "One would assume."

If it is a personal essay like a personal experience or a reference. If it's formal you stay away from first person like your life depends on it.

Yes it is OK, unless you have an assignment which specifically forbids it. The problem occurs when most of the sentences or paragraphs start with "I". Then it becomes very boring.

depends on the type of essay your writing.. if its expository or persuasive(and not an editorial) i would try not to..you have to sound confident when you write soo dont use "i think" "i believe" "i feel" ..say it like its fact
