Can't pick just one...each has been so special in my life. My early childhood was just awesome with fantastic grandparents; spending my early years in Italy and being blessed with being a babe of the late 40's and early 50's! Such innocence and good clean, discovering fun!

My teen years were spent in France, living in a dorm in an American high school 4 hrs away from home with great friends with whom I have reunited in the past 4 years. No issues with parents like most teens have 'cause I was never at home! LOL

The birth of my children in the 60's...just awesome.

My 40's and 50's - FREEDOM with a capital F...had scads of fun; won't go into details but I did everything that was legal and fun!

My 60's - new day - love being alone and doing it my way - miss the activity of yesteryear in my home, but discovering new paths to joy!

Today is much better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be even better than today. As I've grown older, I've found greater peace and contentment in my life. My kids have become adults so I'm no longer responsible for them and I absolutely love my solitude. Although, I'm still working on my job I continue to do this because I enjoy my chosen career and it's totally stress free. Life has always been good but right now it is amazing. I would never want to return to the days that have gone although I learned a lot from my experiences and I realize that I have become the person I am today because of them. Yes, this is the best and happiest season of my life - the season of the present.
The Past has done her job well, the Future awaits my entrance but it is the Present that holds my hand gently and smiles at me with great delight. It is NOW!!!
Take care and God bless!

-For me it is now. I just retired after working since I was 16. I had no intentions of ever retiring because I've been a single working parent with a disabled child for years and loved my job. However, I worked as a civilian in the military and when Bush took us to war again...I couldn't understand it and it bothered me to deploy more and more troops to the point my BP was dangerously elevated from the war, the added work and the mean and aggressive office politics that developed among the unit members when the troops were activated was a repeat of the Desert Storm activation. There was no unity just petty jealousy, little dictators, and kissing up. The leaderhip was weak or it stunk. Then one morning at work I just made the decision. I felt like Forrest Gump when he took to the road and ran and ran for two years, then suddenly stopped and said, "I'm done!". That's all it took and there was no looking back. It was the best choice I ever made. I'm home all day now with my son and his pups and we are all very happy and contented and my BP is under good control now that I have the time and energy to take a daily walk. I'm still against the war...but now it's all about me. I deserve it after working, multi tasking, and doing additional work with no help, support or supplies for 45 years and giving it my absolute best on a lousy government salary. I never got elevated because I just did the all they threw at me and NEVER kissed up. Sadly, it was a place where you could advance by sleeping with the people in power. Doing a good job is expected but getting promoted requires pillow talk. Bill Clinton proved it starts at the top.

Is is any wonder I'm happy to be out of that snake pit ?

I can look back on every season of my life and think of something that was good about it. I'll be 70 in January and I can truthfully say, I've never been happier or more content. There's something to be said for contentment.

I truly think it is now. I have gained more confidence in myself than I ever had when I was younger. I am more content now, more satisfied with life on a smaller scale, than trying to chase the illusion with having a large house, new cars, the latest of everything..with that comes debt and stress.
