I'm making a bridge for my physics class, and I need to know the best glue to use on my bridge. I have gorilla glue and elmer's wood glue, as well. My bridge is Bass Wood, and it will be about a foot long. It will be tested for strength up to holding about 70kg of mass... or until it breaks. I would really like opinions!

It also may be helpful to know that I will be pinning the pieces of wood onto wax paper and cardboard, so I don't think the Gorilla Glue expanding will be an issue because the pieces will be held in place while the glue dries. I am also willing to sand the joints, in case things get messy.... but I honestly still don't know which is glue is stronger?

Gorilla Glue.
Elmers is a casein glue, less in bond strength
and much more sensitive to joint fit and curing.

I would use either yellow wood glue, or a 2-part epoxy. Gorilla glue is too cumbersome for what you are doing, and I don't think Crazy glue would work very well. How about gluing some test pieces with 2 or 3 different types of glue? Then you can get a sense of how easy they are to use. Also, if a glue does not work well for balsa wood, you'd find that out before going to the trouble of building the whole bridge. Good luck.

You will find that a project in a small scale likethis will be a disaster if you use gorilla glue..it is very strong..but this glue expands more and more as it dries..thus you will have all kinds of residue if not globs of expanded build up on it..this glue expands for 2 or 3 hours..also meaning that from the last joint you glue,..plan on going nowhere for 2 or 3 hours and watching it constantly...Gorilla glue is very good and strong stuff..but watch where you apply it....If this bridge is going to be painted/stained/sealed etcetra//plan on doing tons of scraping the excess off and all...Elmers wood glue as mentioned..is stronger than the wood itself..so the wood will fail before the glue does...

Gorilla glue is extremely strong, but it will expand. If that might be an issue, go with the wood glue.

Gorilla glue.
This is the most amazing stuff I've ever seen.
I used it to glue a crystal to a brass stand, after everything else failed.

Gorilla Glue! It will make anything stick!Be very careful when using this--I made a mistake of "spilling" some on my finger. It took forever to get it off.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/QnkM4
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.
