Yes, I have; three times. The last one was my charm. I'm still here (& on meds) and NOW; I just want to live till the good Lord calls for me. During my time of depression caused by stress (family/work/health), I went into a world of darkness and pain. I could not find the light at the end of the tunnel and no relief from my pain (physically/mentally). At my last attempt I had a spiritual awakening and I got to see the light.
I have been taught the Good Words of the Lord since birth but many times we lose our FAITH when we try to live in this world with only the nature of man (human nature) and not with the Holy Spirit of the Lord. GOD IS MERCIFUL WITH HIS GRACE AND HIS IS IN CONTROL.
God doesn't leave us; we leave God.
MY FAITH IN THE LORD IS MY SHIELD FROM DARKNESS.

GOD BLESS! AMEN! SHALOM!

Both me and Tc have been down that road and thankfully we both survived. I overdosed once in 1974 after being in hospital for 5 months after a car accident that nearly killed me. I had always wanted to be a nurse and 2 days before I was due to go to Nursing college I had the accident. Due to the internal injuries I had I was not deemed to be physically fit enough to do nursing. My whole life I had dreamed of being a nurse and in an instant my world was collapsing around me. I was taken to the same hospital I had been in after the accident and they were very kind to me. I also overdosed twice in 1982 one time due to excessive amounts of amphetamines and the second after a very traumatic event which saw me committed to a psychiatric hospital.
Tc overdosed on alcohol in 1982 and he is extremely lucky to be alive today....well we both are. We met and married in 1988 and have 2 daughters and 2 grandsons. We are both very grateful that the Good Lord decided He didn't want us at that time and we have tried really hard to not feel that way again. Unfortunately, depression is not something that is controllable and can creep up on a person and hold on with a vice like grip. We support each other and we can recognise the warning signs of when one of us is slipping. Unfortunately not everyone is lucky enough to have that type of support.
We have both known people who have overdosed and not survived.

My bosses daughter and the sister of the brothers that were running the company had real bad back pains and was taking medication for such.
Just before Easter one year the father stopped by work and then went by to see his daughter at her house , and found her sitting up on her daughters bed when he arrived, her head was down and she had passed from an overdose of prescription medication. He called the sons at work and told them to get over there right away. We who knew her did not know what had happened but knew it was bad, and were devistated to find out that she was dead. She was only in her late 30's was married had two twin teen boys and two step daughters.

I have done drugs most of my life. The only time I have ever seen an overdose was my brief stint as a nurse aid. The girl deliberately overdosed.

yes - survived 3 times

if there ever is a next time - no - will make sure I do it right

I also knew many other people who committed suicide - but only one by overdose - she did not survive
I lost 5 people I knew to suicide - within a span of 2 1/2 years - some I knew better than others, 1 was like a father figure to me - he had terminal cancer and shot himself - 1 was like a mother figure to me - she's the one that OD'd on Xanax - my son called them Granny and Gramps.

Yes I have. Most survived and a few did not. I used to do a great deal of counseling with Alcoholics and drug addicts. I was on call at least 4 nights a week. Unless you have been exposed to this terrible disease, one cannot possibly comprehend the damage and heartbreak it can cause to both to sufferer as well as to their families.

Not personally, but a few weeks ago, my son had to investigate the death of a young lady who overdosed. She had everything going for her but in a flash, her life was over. I feel badly for her family & know what they're going through, having lost my 15 y/o son in 1988.
