Of course a girl can play drums. I'm a teacher and my best student is a girl. Most of the guys I get who are new to drumming want to start out straight away playing Metallica or Slipknot tunes, whereas the girls seem to listen when I say that they need to get the basics down and work from there.
Don't be intimidated by drumming and the fact that it's an instrument mainly played by men. If you put your mind to it, and your dedicated to succeeding, then I'm sure you'll do very well.

Ummm... My best friend is a drummer. Sure it may seem like drums are for guys, butthey aren't. I know abou six girls that can drum. Also, I hate how people prejudice for gender. Pink is not just a girl color!!!!! XD!!! Lol! Anyway, tell your mom that instruments and music doesn't discriminate by gender. Music is what you feel inside and how you choose to express yourself through sound. It doesnt matter who you are or how good you are. If your mom said that drums were too loud, well, that's a better reason. And if your mom thinks that piano and violin are girl instruments, tell her I'm a guy, and I've gone to state competitions with BOTH!!!! Boo-yah!!!!

Of course! One year, the winner of Guitar Center's Drum Off was a girl. Lenny Kravitz used to have a female drummer for years and was pretty awesome.

Check out Cindy Blackman. She is one of the best drummers in the world. She is best known as the drummer for Lenny Kravitz's touring band during the Are You Gonna Go My Way era. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can't do something.
