Help I just got a new gateway laptop for Christmas, and I cant get the internet, my specs say I have this,


10/100 Ethernet LAN
802.11g Wireless LAN

and I also bought a dsl router, how do I get the internet hooked up?

Model Gateway ML6232 Notebook


I heard I needed a PCMCIA card, where do I get one, and should it have come with the laptop.

either 10/100 Ethernet LAN or 802.11g Wireless LAN should get you connected. you will NOT need a PCMCIA card as you have the LAN port built in, but you may need a cable for the network connection.
PS the 10/100 refers to the speeds the Ethernet port will work to. 10 or 100 bit per second.

First you need to tell the router what type of Internet you have by giving it the information it needs to let the signal from your provider go through the router. Then you need to tell the computer which signal is coming through the router and the password to access the signal.

you don't need a card,your laptop already have wifi,you need a modem to go with your router,the modem emits a wireless signal that your computer picks up and connects to the internet,you can hook it up directly to the router but you won't be wireless
