I thought, "Oh crap!! Here goes another excuse for the media to drum up this long, drawn out, sorry / pity campaign so they can increase their ratings." Yeah, I liked Steve Erwin, but, he simply got caught in an unfortunate situation, and died. He and his dad and wife all knew of those possibilities. It was just the media that was going to build this very melodramatic campaign on the air so they could get everyone crying and boo-hoo-ing so that they could sell more air time to the corporations with the money. I'm sorry he died, but we're all gonna do that at one time or another. I've had many opportunities in my life, and my son is sure I'm Superman since I've lived through them all, so far. The last "opportunity" was when I got run over by a train while at work. Yeah, I got run over by a train and dragged down the track 200 feet and lost one of my legs. And Social Security says I'm not disabled. Yeah, you heard me right. Our government, to whom I've paid taxes and Social Security for decades, says I'm not disabled, despite the accident and all the medical records. They say I'm too educated to be disabled. You make the connection, if you can. Life goes on. God Bless you.

When I first heard about Steve Irwin, I was watching the croc hunter on tv a couple of years ago.
Are you talking about hearing about his death? Pretty sad, but he knew what the risks were when he did his job.

You mean when he died? I was shocked and sad, but that's about it. Its not like I knew the guy personally and broke down into tears. I'm sure his family and all of Australia miss him. He was a nice guy that did some great stuff for animals and education. Other than that, there are far more important people in the world that are "my hero". How about all the soldiers that die everyday fighting for our freedom and our protection? How about the people who follow commands of a president that most of America can't stand? THAT is heroism in my book.

I was running on the treadmill and watching the news.
I put my hand to my chest and gasped and my husband, who was walking by, thought I was having chest pains from running and it scared him silly.
Yes, I shed a few tears. He was quite a conservationist and a good man and Americans just loved the guy. I miss him.

I was sorry an interesting person died. I was sorry for his family and happy to see that his daughter and wife are continuing his interests. It was sad. Of course I first thought a crock had got him but I was wrong. Saddened for him and his family.

I read about it on the internet and was shocked to say the least. It all could of been prevented if he wasn't so sure of himself with wildlife.
