The other day my sister mailed down her laptop a DELL XPS M140, she told me it wasnt working , so i got online and talked to the DELL people and they told me that they would have to verify and all that other junk, so im sitting there on the computer sense 1 PM and its 5: 30 PM, and when they came to there senses they told me that they are going to send me a box to ship the laptop in, and if it needed to be fixed , it wouldnt cost us a thiong , today we got the box, but before we packaged it we bought a 104 Dollar charger to see if that was a problem. It still wouldnt charge. So it has to be a internal problem. It could either be the Motherboard , or Power Supply, or a internal connection problem, etc. So we just got the box in today and i already packaged it and have it ready to go, but my mom doesnt want me to send it because we still owe money on it because its new and only 2 years old. The warranty is still going until April of next year, but my mom wont listen to me........

( sense i know all about computers, and i know for a fact that it is a internal problem ) but she still wont listen , and there is no way we can fix that problem at home, its just sitting in the box next to me taking up space, she wont agree on it because she thinks the will keep it because we didnt pay the last check yet,.... there no reason to keep it anyway if it doesnt work.?

send it back and say you`ve not payed the last installment as its playing up and you`re making sure they fix it before your paying anymore.

OK, step one, pull the battery, plug it in to the wall and see if that helps. Sometimes a battery doesn't just die, but SHORTS, which causes even the AC to be a no go.

If it still doesn't fire up send it back. Most likely you got it from a store anyway and the payments you owe are to the store, no? Dell won't know anything of your purchase agreement elsewhere. Even if it's purchased thru Dell on some sort of payment program I still doubt they are going to hold it for ransom. Plus, it's a dead laptop anyway, even if they do what have you lost but a big paperweight???

Consider it just like a car. You might pay on a car for years, but if your car breaks down before you finish paying them off, would you be afraid to take it to the dealer to have them fix it when it is under warranty? And if the mechanic won't return your car they can be taken to court. In any case, the people who repair the laptops are not the same people who take the payments, it's a different building and probably not even in the same state.

What do you have to lose? Fact is, warranty time runs out whether you use the computer (or any product) or not.
Send it in and when it gets returned, use it as much as possible. I've always recommended that any electronic product be left powered on for the first month or two, just to verify it will last.

yes send it back, they have already review your account and all, that's why you have the warranty for just the problem you described,I sent my laptop back the box arrived on a Monday and I had it back by Thursday, but if your payments are behind then don't send it back they could keep it until your payments are up to date
