I don't get it.

I think it's simply what society has come to believe: The smaller, the better.

In part, I think that for females, it almst has to do with etiquette. If you're slim, you are stereotyped to not eat much; it's usually considered "ladylike" to eat well, and in small portions. Hence, those that are overweight, are claimed to eat too much.

I hate it.

That said, males have the same issue.

Three days ago, I talked to a friend of mine. He SHOULD be at the height and weight of an average adult male.

And yet, as far as I know, he's at 78 pounds. That's what I was told by one of his friends, who contacted me to let me know that he'd been hospitalized for eating nothing, and taking pills to help him lose weight, that ended in a seizure.

And yet, three days ago, he said, "Omg. I'm so fxcking fat."

I hate it. I hate what it does to people I love, especially him.

Being skinny is important because so many people are fat. The society is constantly eating and taking part in activities that promote unhealthy weight. Because of this, most people over-eat. The fight not to eat, and the temptation to indulge place much unnecessary attention on being skinny, rather than healthy.

dontcha know skinny = beautiful or something ???? I'm puzzled 2 - need curves - concaved-ness is scary
Right now gov't doesn't want to pay for people so they are encouraging the health fitness , no smoking , no drinking , no sex , go green - its all going to end the same anyhow you will still die.

Not all fat people are ugly - there are plus sized models and they are NOT ugly and they have REAL breasts.

I don't think its being skinny that is important its more like being healthy more than anything. People are learning that they can die from obesity and other over weight problems.

dude, think about it. everyone who is successful that we look up to as role models are skinny. it's a stupid fad the the fashion industry came up with and now that all the celebrities are skinny, it's spread. and nowadays, even the little kids are being brainwashed. i mean, seriously, look at barbie dolls. no woman realistically has that figure. but the doll is made to seem beautiful

Probably because everyone is so critical and people care about what other people think because you would never know if but one insult can ruin a person. It's really sad what this world has come to.
