It was at a nice Chinese restaurant. Everything was perfect up until dessert. They gave me a cookie, but when I bit into it, there was a piece of paper baked right inside the cookie. I can't image how a professional chef could be so wantonly careless.

Obviously, it ruined the whole evening.

:(

Obviously this was a fortune cookie. Either you are playing with the "answer" audience as a joke or you are unaware of fortune cookies. If you are toying with us, very well. If not, lesson learned. As to any real occasion of finding a foreign object in a serving of food a law suit would need to be predicated on your having suffered a loss or injury.

Getting very clever now, the way they present the bill to you at the end or your meal.

Found a couple of severed mens thingumies in my soup once, but I didn't sue.

Instead I tried to eat it all, but I couldn't so I gave the waiter a big tip.

Depends what it is ... If it was $100 bill, I would tiptoe out quietly and not look back on your way to the bureau d'echange.
