It is not coming back. It was to difficult for the writers, producers and cast to work on both shows at the same time--- despite the high ratings- the extra hours needed to film the show proved to exhausting for cast and crew so they opted not to do it.

Rumors however seem to indicate that ABC is interested in a spin-off of "One Life To Live" in a similar mold to Night Shift. Rumors have stated they are going to work on a OLTL mini-series to air on soap net that will feature some of the younger characters like Natalie, Jessica, Nash, Starr and Adrianna.

I think it was an "experiment" in marketing SoapNet.
They introduced some characters that ended up on GH, without taking away from any "current"(at the time) story-lines. When it ran it's course, the "new" characters were added to the cast. In case you have'nt figured it out, the burn victim was Brenda Barrett, who will likely NOW be played by Sarah Brown(originally Carly).
To answer this question: When they need an influx of new characters, I guess.

I don't think it will return. Originally it was only suppose to air for 13 weeks to draw in new viewers to GH. But it was a hit so maybe they'll decide to do a second season.

It probably will not return. The producers and actors all have said it took too much extra time and money and it exhausted everyone. It comes out on DVD soon.

I was wondering if I kept missing it. But I guess it's seasonal. Probably not until the strike is over

I thought I read that because it was such a success that they were doing more but not for a while.
