I reformatted the hard drive and added memory to total 640MB, what more can I do?

I replaced the hard drive, so there are no viruses/spyware/adware

Computer speed is a function of several things, having sufficient RAM is one thing (in fact 640MB is not enough for more modern games such as WOW). You should have at least 1GB or more.

Another speed function is your Processor speed. Nothing you can do about that but upgrade your PC.

Also, if you are loading a lot of programs during bootup that run in the background, this can also slow you down. Only start/load what you really use.

And lastly, you might have a virus that intentionally bogs down the processor.

You may have too many programs running all at once:

Click on: Start
Click on: Run
Type: msconfig
Click on: Startup
Uncheck: All programs you don't need starting up and running in the background all of the time like Yahoo Messenger, Limewire, etc.

Try defragmenting the harddrive, run an inti-virus program, an anti-spyware program, or shut down some non essential proccess.

Sometimes it happens due to the usb devices as well. Download ProcessMonitor and ProcessExplorer and see which process is eating your resources.
