You took the words right out of my mouth. If one of them was with me, they would learn Respect first ,then I would teach them martial arts, so they could gain confidence, inner strength, focus, and would be able to defend themselves against all the bullies out there. They would learn that nothing comes easy, but with hard work, they will learn how to succeed in life, and be able to do that on their own.

I'm part of a mentor program at my high school. I'm given a group of three underclassmen to mentor and I'll be with them for the rest of the year into next year.
I want to teach them what they really have to know to do well in school which would be understanding the importance of forming study groups, getting to know your teachers, and learning how to fight your case against an administrator without being labeled 'defiant.'

I would teach That young person to not take things at face value to question everything just because one or a few people say its true does not mean it is.

That's hard to decide... I guess I would first teach them respect of themselves and others.

I would want to teach them the philosophy of "Suck it up and deal, look on the bright side and then the sucky side shrinks in comparison."
