I am redoing my bathroom, and want to put sea glass on an area of the wall in front of my tub (appx 18"x60"). Just random pieces, no mosaics or patterns. It will be going onto just plain drywall. Is there a special base that I need to use to "stick" it into or do I glue and then grout it? Can I even put it on drywall? Someone suggested it might get too heavy and tear the drywall.

You reminded me of a house I remodeled a few years ago in WA state. Am elderly woman picked up SEA Glass from the shores around BainBridge Island.

She was crafting Murals on her windows using clear epoxy cement.

First of all I suggest NOT directly on drywall, no matter what substance you use to adhere the glass, and also suggest you attempt a pattern, or scene.

Without knowing the WALL material surrounding your tub,,,hopefully GREEN board at the very least, I suggest you find a piece of clear Plexi, in a size you want, attach it to a wall, and GLUE the glass to it. The Plexi can be attached to Studs.

To do a Verticle Mosaic, might be an interesting challenge, but not impossible. The issue remains,,,the substance of the Wall board.

In any case a very cool idea, and Sea glass is an interesting collectable, as well as an Art medium. Beyond that, here in the US at least, there are no laws regulating the removal of Sea Glass from our shores.

you're able to do a mosaic on a lot of stuff, desk tops, stepping stones, around photograph frames/mirrors... you may placed them in jars and function them on a window shelf. you may paint canvas and function them as accessory products....plenty and a lot of stuff available!
