Semper, I have to be very honest about this and say that nothing will happen to the United States, unless God allows it to happen! I am more concerned that people are not praying for our nation. I am more concerned that our nation is not standing as one "nation under God." If we, as Americans repent and turn away from the things not pleasing to our Lord, He would heal this land! America is a sick nation at this time, in history and not militarily! I mean spiritually! All these things scare me more than nuclear weapons...aimed at us!
Most all my life, I have understood that this nation is not safe! It was hit the hallway, cover your heads with your arms and put your head down! This exercise was done for the sake of, "the Cold War." Many of us remember having to deal with these drills throughout our childhood. Then, we had 9-11. Another reminder, we are not safe! Threats from several....we ARE NOT SAFE!
The only safety comes from God. He is in charge and no matter what one calls the leadership...God is the only ONE who can truly make long lasting changes for the good!
Brother, as scriptures unfold, there will be an increase in this as well. However, I am a child of God and my peace comes from knowing HIM.

There is no need for any reaction because the Taliban will never take control over Pakistan. Am an American Muslim and in the U.S. Army as well. I am telling you from a Muslim stand point of view these terrorist do not believe in true Islam and have hijacked the religion takes courage to apply the true teachings of Islam but they wont because it against their personal goals. The people of Pakistan are against them and will more now. The agreement was with the Swat leaders to do Sharia Law and Taliban was suppose to hand their weapons over and they are not the ones who suppose to be there. The Swat leaders were not to let Taliban in but for some reason they are in. The Pakistani Government. have been lied to and what have been agreed upon did not happen. Now, I believe that the Pakistani Gov. will act on those who had broke the agreement and let terrorists and extremist in.

The United States Government has expressed that is prepared to remove nuclear weapons from Pakistan if necessary. If this is true hopefully the U.S. can secure them before they fall into the hands of the extremists. I'd also like to think that Pakistan's military has some sort of plan for this sort of thing.

Nothing happens whithout the army's say so. Pakistan has an army that gives a leader permission to lead. In fact, the army is more than just a fighting force; it owns lots of land as well as many companies and has a fair amount of respect from the people. It is quite engrained in the fabric of Pakistan society. The streets may not be safe but the nukes are…. (he says with a bead of sweat running down his face)

If people think Americans are "bothersome" now with out 'talk' - wait untill someone blows up a nuc somewhere - anywhere.
There wont be a safe place for any criminal in the world. The Japanese Admiral said it best (but I can't quote exactly) "We have awaken a slumbering giant." Basically there will be hell to pay for 100 or more years.

Semper,
no need to fear and as I recall your faith is stronger than most. In light of the reality Musharraf and other "people" are in discussion as we speak.
For the real news on this event, the impact on the world and reality of the overall situation I would merely suggest to you and your contacts that they watch the BBC News as opposed to anything on the major networks within CONUS. The exception of this of course is news that comes on PBS - get the facts not the sound bites. The "sound bites" are colored with a Presidential race that is making everything "murky" at best.
Your warrior colleague and brother in arms (I am still in the fighting hole and never quite left).

If they did I can't imagine they will be used in a responsible manner to promote peace, but rather to impose the will of the extremists upon others as they see fit.

BOOM ! BOOM ! BOOM ! BOOM !
If mohammedan terrorists got hold of Pak's Nuclear Weapons they would attack Israel, and try to do the same to US. I hope that we have the courage to make a preemptive strike against them first.
