I have a friend who has been a total jerk to me. He called me names and dissed me here and there. He said I'm a horrible friend and that he "left me" for these other people. He acts as if I can't live without him. He thinks that my life revolved around him. So I need to tell him that it's over in the meanest way possible, so he realizes that I don't need him and I'm actually better off without him. HELP!! I have no idea how to.

I think the meanest way would be to absolutely, completely sever all contact with him forever starting now. That sends a really strong message that you not only CAN live without him but can do so without ever wasting your words on him.
I know this is really mean because I had someone do it to me once and I found it incredibly harsh and painful that he wouldn't even give me the opportunity to discuss the problem.

Don't do that! You can terminate the friendship without lowering yourself to his level. Frankly, he sounds as though he has some emotional or mental health issues - why add fuel to the fire? All you need to care about is to end the friendship, but I guarantee you will feel better in the long run if you do it in a classy way, so you can hold your head up. All you need to say, is, "I don't feel that you were a very good friend to me lately, but I wish you luck with your new friends." Trust me, the niceness will hurt him worse than a mean comment, because if he does anything mean, it will be clear that he is a jerk and you are not.

heres how it will it go:
invite him to a fancy restaurant in front of everybody do everyone will see you guys.
order something that will stain and that is a liquid,like red wine.
this is what you say while holding the drink:"You know,i cant beleive i spended my valuable life on a stupid hobo like you!"
then,really quickly spill all the liquid on to his shirt,and yell so everyone can see you splash the stuff on his face.
Dont forget to leave quickly so he will be stuck paying the enormous bill.
and if he says something like "i cant pay i forgot my wallett" then you just say,"well thats your problem,aned then you walk away.
