I agree with you, I thought most of the answers were unreasonably harsh.

besides, the kids probably wouldn't even know the value of money at their age. the money can always be paid back in the future when the bills arn't mounting.

I wouldn't be angry if I found out my parents ever did it. I'd rather they put it to good use than have me spending it on sweets or silly things that are no good

if she is struggling to make ends meet i can understand where she is coming from, after all it's not as if they are old enough to know the difference and even if they were surely they would rather have food in their bellies and a lift to their mates in safety rather than a new eyeshadow or a crappy cd. i have put my kids money in my purse for safe keeping and spent if before now, if they want something later i will get it for them but they dont always remember they've had it. my kids are really lucky they already have a small fortune in the bank from grandparents who would never see us hard up but if we were my kids would willingly give up there university fund for the family, it's just a shame that if her case is genuine ppl are so judgemental and cruel when they have no idea how much the family could be suffering, some ppl always see the bad side in others whilst i always like to look on the good and positive side. xx

I totally agree!! I was appalled to read some of the answers.I have, in the past had to borrow money given to my babies as Christmas gifts, to buy food, I paid it back into their bank accounts when times got better. I have never been on the dole, am not a single parent, and (as one person suggested) was not on the game!!!! But I have known hard times. My 3 kid's are all grown up now, and have not dis-owned me or are scarred for life because I borrowed a few quid of their Christmas money to buy the turkey!!!

I answered this question but I didnt put her down. Some people on yahoo answers so write simple one liners for their 2 points and dont think of the consequences of their actions. Yes i read the comments and some where down right nasty, she told the truth and was got at by others like a pack of wolves. I mean she only submitted a question not raped some one and got found out!!!!!

i think maybe lots of people may have answered before the edit. of course if she is that depsperate money then yes i could understand it but as others have said if she is that hard up...get rid of the pc and internet that cost money!

my neices mum used to take back presents that were bought for her when she was little get the money back and keep that herself....now in my opinion that WAS bad!! now shes older she knows what shes got so she cant do it.

At least your mum used it to buy things for her kids like fod my nieces mum used it for her own pleasures like getting ratted every night whilst i raised her duaghter!!

Plenty have and wont admit it,of course there are many who find it difficult to stretch what finances they have in order to feed, clothe and put a roof over the heads of themselves and their children.Taking and using wisely money gifted to children is only commonsense, not theft, in particular circumstances, those who criticise would be well advised to give thanks for their own good fortune......"there but for the grace of god " etc .

hello dolley k, i was being honest and i know some thought it was a wind up, but as they are not in need of any more presents and they are very young i feel the money could be spent on better things.i feel as a parent its up to me to make decisions that are not always the best ones, but i have limited income or choices ..thank you

Dolly my darlin' - she should still have no need to use her children's cash for FOOD AND THINGS! As I stated in my answer, if she ain't working she must be getting assistance of some sort. She can afford to run a car and has a PC, ergo she has to buy petrol, tax and Insurance and pay for broadband or dial-up. Who's kidding who?

ha ha ....Blimey what a load of fuss over nothing. they are only babies. they can hardly be dropped off in the town centre to go off to the sales. my dad used to give us money to buy the kids stuff at Christmas, but we used to kind of put it in with the spending pile that we had. she's not guilty of any!! thing....good lord. she sounds like a good sensible mum who's got her priorities right to me.

You might be shocked, but I'm not. Most of those answers probably came from losers who buy their kids $100 sneakers, three or four video games, and Hanna Montana tickets because that makes them "good parents".
Even if I wasn't in desperate circumstances I'd still encourage (make) my kids save some of that money.
