Well, beliefs are not totally "untrue" as we grow up. Maybe the explanation from parents or adults was exaggerated or not given in technical terms because we were young.
You better stop crossing your eyes or they will grow that way. Mama bless her soul used that on me more often than I care to admit. That's still true but not in the original concept which is basically "untrue" by your definition.
There, that kiss will make it cure better. Again, love, affection can cure more physical and emotional things than we give parents credit. It's been proved scientifically that primates without love and affection suffer greatly from afflictions and an illness takes longer to heal or doesn't heal at all. "untrue" about the kiss but in reality true and proved 50 years later. Mama could have saved the government a whole lot of tax dollars on that survey if they had just listened.
I could go on and on. Everything Mama told me I may find "untrue" in its original rendention but is still true.
Yes, there is an Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. It's all in your heart. Forget the mind. It's all those "unexplained" things that you found under your bed or Christmas tree which you craved, wished or prayed to get. It is arriving at the park and finding all those beautiful eggs the bunny left "just for me".
Believe in those things forever and pass those beliefs to your children. Makes better adults out of them. I care because Mama showed me love with an unexpected hug, love, affection and yes all those pretty colored eggs the bunny (Mama) stayed up all night cooking "just for me". Hand me a tissue. There's this trickle running down my cheek I need to wipe.

I was always fascinated as a child by Superman and I used to have dreams that I could fly and that one day if I tried hard enough I could get off the ground!. I had a good imagination but I now know I'm never going to flap those arms and fly! Fact is I'm kind of afraid of heights...( smile)

I was eight-nine when the Berlin Wall went up, and we believed the world had 'changed forever' ... my mother worked for the U.S. Air Force then, and we nearly got sent to England to provide 'support' for the flights into West Berlin ... I can remember the days when the Wall came down, and how I cried tears for me, and for my mother, who had died before the Wall came down. This is a 'totally different world' we live in today, with all of the 'technology' we didn't know about back then ... but it's a basically GOOD WORLD and one that DESERVES TO SURVIVE. Be aware of your 'carbon footprint' because 'this era's WALL' is GLOBAL WARMING!

That I could easily be a superstar singer just like the spice girls and that I had a fantastic voice, ha ha! Now that would be a nightmare to me and I know I can't sing for sh*t, I'm just glad I realised that while I was still young and didn't carry on the delusion and audition for a TV singing show!

That there is such a thing as Santa Clause. I could not believe that my parents lied to me....I thought they were better than that. I guess I lost some respect for them because of that.
And my sister who knew there was no Santa Clause, would not tell my parents till way after Christmas because she knew that she would get Less presents. I was disgusted at her.....that was lying too.
I hate lying!

I used to believe that the people shown in photographs could actually see me if they were looking at the camera (so they looked like they were looking at you). I also used to believe in Christianity, but know far too much history now to believe it anymore. Most Christians are pretty much clueless about the historical origins of their church, but from what I've seen far too many people are ignorant of history, which I find very disturbing, as people who are ignorant of history are very liable to repeat it.
