Okay.I had to buy this DVD-box for my boyfriend as a christmas present and im gonna see him tomorrow, but now here's the problem: I havent bought the DVD box yet even though I told him i had and now there isn't any of those boxes left in that store where i had to buy it like a week ago(i didnt have money at that time) and now i dunno what to do I mean,i told him that i had bought it already and that i'll give it to him next time we meet. Now I seriously dunno what to do cause he knows what the gift is so i cant buy anything else now... I know, it was stupid to tell it to him ESPECIALLY when i didnt have the ****** dvd box yet.. I am so fkin pissed right now. One might even say that im completely FKED. Im really stressed about this...i know it sounds stupid but please, anyone have any ideas what to do or what to say to him because his expecting this dvd box from me,and i also told him that i have bought it already.i need good excuses, lies etc. why i dont have it and thanks in advance. =

Give him a card that says his present is on order. You could accompany the card with some homemade treat like cookies, fudge, or even a cake decorated like the DVD Box!

There is no such thing, really, as a good lie. One lie leads into another then another until eventually you get caught and your credibility with the person is ruined.

I am not understanding why you lied in the first place and told him you had it when you didn't have it. That was just silly.

You can either try to find it elsewhere. Tell him you had to return it because you needed the cash to buy gifts for your parents/grandparents, etc and figured you would have the cash now, but now they don't have any of the units.

Or you can just be upfront with him and let him know you never had it in the first place.

Instead of lying, how about checking with the store you were planning to buy it from and seeing if you can get a "rain check" for one when the new shipment comes in? Or, how about getting him a gift card for that store that is worth enough to buy it? You can always tell him that you just told a little white lie when you said you had already bought it, but were hoping that the store would get more in before Christmas, but they didn't. I'm sure he would understand. Good luck to you.

Tell him that you practically told the owner from that shop to keep the dvd box but he sold it right before you wanted to pick it up. And you told him that you already have it because you were 100% sure, it's not the best excuse but .. what other lies could you tell him :). I'm sure he will forgive you ... or you could just tell him the truth. These things happen we are humans .. it's normal for us to do mistakes.

Well...you could tell him the truth because lies can hurt and ruin a relationship. However if you decide to tell a lie perhaps this would work. Tell him you put it on lay away and that they gave it to someone else by mistake and now there aren't any to be had. That your name is on a list so when a new supply comes in you'll be one of the first to get it.

Good luck!

You said you have a week till you see him? Buy it online from somewhere, or say you bought it and it turned out to be broken inside the box, or just didn't work, or you grabbed the wrong one by accident, or someone stole it from you, or you went back to the store to get it wrapped, and it turns out there was a re-call on this certain dvd player(or whatever) and it was getting to hot and starting fires.

1) give your friend something different and tell with a poker face that you didnt want to spoil the suprise by telling what he would get from christmass and so you invented the dvd box story

2) tell him the dvdbox was damaged and that you brought it back to the store and also give him something else.

3) wrap another present in a paper , give it to him with the words "here your dvd box" pretend that you didnt know that there was something else in it , al little stupid thing he doesnt need

Maybe tell him that an unexpected family member dropped by over the holidays and you didn't have a gift for him so your parents asked if they could give the box-set to the relative. Tell him it was stupid to give up his gift especially when they are so hard to find but you'll give it to him as soon as the stores get them in.
Or tell him that a box of stuff got donated to charity. Maybe one of your parents took Christmas gifts to a local church for needy kids or to a hospital for sick kids who couldn't go home for the holidays. Your gift for your boyfriend accidentally got put in with the other stuff.

You could find that DVD item online, something like ebay or online store, purchase it and when you see him, tell him it is on the way stuck in the mail, probably late due to Holidays. Or you could just tell him you slacked off and dropped the ball and are very sorry. Make up sex is awesome.

You already came up with a good lie, the best ones get you in the most trouble. Try a good truth, if you get an unreasonable response to 'not having the money', then you'll get a good truth back from him (good to know now if his gifts mean more to him than your being broke). (expect a reasonably bad response to the initial lie however)
