So I totally live in vegas and I am beyond broke ... my bf recently lost his job so he is broke as well. We want to do something for New Years eve but are VERY limited on funds. Any ideas?

I suppose I should have added earlier that since I live in Las Vegas ... I HATE the strip and all the tourist spots ... so anything that isn't related to the strip would be perfered although I do appreciate the thoughts.

What about bowling.... go to some ot the local places like Samstown .... I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the strip but it is fun to just go and people watch. Pack a picnic basket and drive to the upper levels of the valley and get a good view of the strip where you can sit and watch the fireworks at midnight. It isn't easy as it seems everything is crowded that night and expensive. Or do what I plan .. just stay home .. sit on my patio and watch the fireworks from there.

Have you ever been to Ellis Island? I think it's on Koval, it's a little ways off the strip. It's a smaller casino.
They have a bar in there with $1 beers and mixed drinks are only about $3, which I'm sure you know is great for Vegas. They also do Karaoke there and the regulars really get into it. It's alot of fun even if you just watch. Really friendly crowd, and you can't beat the prices. We go there when we want a night out but money's tight.

I like going up to Sunrise Mountian, hardly any traffic, and its one of the best places to see fireworks! If not, I'd suggest looking into the local casinos, they might have something going on for free or at least cheaper.
