Ok, I've put together a list of things you can do, and you might find them useful
Listen to your favourite track (loud)
Go out on an adventure alone
Go on a drive
Have a nice hot bath
Comfort eat (not too much though)
Go to a party/go out with your friends
Watch your favourite movies
Take a break for a while and chill out. You're critically upset so you obviously need it
Go to a spa or something and get pampered for a day
Go on a shopping spree
Sing. Loud. To your favourite music. It helps relieve stress.
Maybe you should have an early night and get some sleep, it'll make you feel significantly brighter
Whatever you do, do NOT resort to binge drinking. It does not make you feel better and will just make you feel numb, (therefore you do not feel better) and this may lead to you becoming addicted.
Do not start smoking, no matter what any smoker says to you about relieving stress, it really doesn't do you any favours.
And don't do any other sort of drugs, they are all dangerous and ultimately do not relieve you from depression.
Maybe you should just go on holiday for a week or so to Greece or Italy or wherever you want to go (if you can afford it) by yourself and just do what you want. I am sorry you're not feeling well.

Sometimes I just go to sleep, I know that i feel terrible and hopefully when i wake up i'll have a new outlook. Other than that a good cry really gets the emotions out of ya, if you're really depressed you probably have a lot to cry about.
Perhaps make a list of goals you want to achieve (ones that you know you can achieve and will achieve) in the future, this helps you feel a lot better about yourself. Other times i'll put on my headphones and run forever, running is a great way to relieve stress and bad feelings.

First of all.
There is a BIG difference between 'depression' and 'sadness' (or the blues)
Clinical depression is an OBVIOUS clinical disease or condition. It runs DEEP, lasts for more than a day or two, might need medicine and therapy (cognitive and behavorial.)
Sadness is fleeting and not any threat to one's mental health or quality of life.
Example:
I can be sad because I lost the lottery.
I can get DEPRESSED if I spent ALL my money on lottery tickets when the Cheese Man is after me!

I cried like a baby and told my mate I needed help. I couldn't do anything anymore. I cried and begged for help. Right after we got married I was barraged with bad news.He stepped up to the plate and did all the housework, shopping, cooking, errands, and helping me take care of my child (we had just gotten married and I had a 6 year old daughter). He took as much off my shoulders as he could, which was ALOT. Today I told him I'm back. It took 6 months, but we made it. He's a good man.

I try to find whatever lessons are to be learned in the situation, I look for the positive aspects of it, and I talk to people who care about me ( the funny ones who cheer me up)
I also take a Lexapro, that sometimes helps.

try doing something fun: watch a fun movie, listen to upbeat music, call up a friend, try something new. If that doesn't help then talk to a Psychologist. I hope you feel better.

I take 5htp. You can get it from health food stores or over the 'net. It works far better than any prescribed rubbish.
Hope you feel better soon.
