i am living for the hope that it might all get better

For years I just lived day to day mainly fighting depression, but then I realised that over time I was perhaps starting to make a difference to a few people.

Currently I'm just curious to know what's going to happen as there have been so many little things and bigger direction changes where I've been in a unique position to be able to help someone.

Still need the Prozac to stop the other stuff coming back, but evidence currently shows that after 14 years of feeling useless there might actually be a purpose. If I can change someones life for the better and make them smile again, I guess that's a good reason to stick around.

Audrey - just give it time, crossing fingers that it will for you, whatever has happened.

I live to pave my own purple road of happiness and to help others and be a good role model for everyone I meet.

In my opinion, suicide is the easy, selfish way out. Sometimes it seems better than trying to deal with life, but when you sit down and write the pros and cons, it's only another method to escape your problems, like drugs. Sure, you'll be free (unless you believe in afterlife), but your family, friends, and boyfriend will be forever haunted by your memories, seeing ghosts and having nightmares. Suicide is no happy memory and no matter what, they will blame themselves. Teachers and neighbors and people you briefly met will be asking themselves what could they have done differently, and you would not be able to tell them. Even if you leave a note, no one will want to believe it, because they care too much to believe that you are actually gone.

If you are unhappy, then you've been doing things that you do not want to do. If they aren't your goals, then stray from the beaten path and work to fulfill your own desires. If you are underage, you have to live under certain rules, but you can start making plans for your future. I loved to do that, with my castle-like house and my VW Beetle dreams. I'm in college working to make that a reality. Do what you have to and make your dreams come true too!

If you have kids or lots of duties, then turn your desires into a hobby. That way you can slowly work towards them and still accomplish your daily tasks. But never give into life. You make life what it is. It's like a lump of clay until you come along. If the clay is ugly, mold it again into something you can gaze at each day. It may take time to figure out what you want your clay to look like, but if you're lost, start taking online personality quizzes, make a list of everything you enjoy, categorize yourself and your friends and try to find a job that would fit into those categories. And sometimes, despite what this money-hungry world might say, even the $6.50 jobs have the potential to make you happiest.

If you want to leave a mark on the world, tell everyone how to help people like you. Write letters to your teachers. Write a book. Become a community leader or an activist. Make speeches or get on community/ school/ government boards. Work to make sure that kids growing up are treated differently and never have to feel like you do. That's what life is about, being happy and helping others have a happy life, so that you have people to frolic around with. YAY!

I'm with Audrey H. although I'm 68 and I suspect she's a lot younger. It has been better in the past, and it has been worse, so there is a real good chance it will get better in the future, and it might get a whole hell of a lot better!

I promised myself a long time ago that I would live to see out my natural life.

I was once so depressed that I told someone I wished I were dead and he said "what makes you think things will get better and not worse?" One thing is for sure, it gets worse for the loved ones you leave behind.
