Both are probably related. Weak signals can turn in to no signal....

N signal is actually no different from G signal, there is just more of it.
MIMO (multiple In Multiple Out) technology basically says: Hey all you antennae out there... Which one of you guys has the strongest signal right now?

The signal itself is pretty much the same.

Things to check for.
How many walls and of what kind are between the router and the computer? If you have an older home or apartment, you probably have some sturdy walls, and you may even have chicken wire in them. Chicken wire is the devil when it comes to wireless signal.

Where is the router located? You should try to put it up high. The higher the better. Better the signal travel through the floor of the second story than through three walls.

Do you have any potential conflicts. Wireless Phone. Microwave Oven. Anything that sparks. Alarm systems. that sort of thing?
