I usually give close to 10% dependin' on how big the order is, and how many people are chippin' in!

Depends on the bill. I try to tip between 15-20%. If you are suppose to tip the waiter 15% when dining in, then why would you want to tip the pizza guy any less? The waiter only had to bring your food from the kitchen to your table (15ft away) while your pizza delivery guy travels about 2 miles to bring your pizza.

I work for a pizza place, they charge a delivery fee, and regardless of what the driver's will post on here, they do get a portion of that fee. For example my store charges $1.60 but I get a $1.10. However that's for mileage, not for wear and tear on the vehicle, so it's always a good idea to tip. (Remember, these people KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, and some of the drivers are crazy, we do make our money off tips as most stores only pay minimum wage, depending on what state and store it is, the store might even count your tip as tip credit towards minimum wage) My advice is to use a coupon, if you don't have one, just say you have one, if you get the price wrong the person on the phone will usually correct you, just accept the correction. This way the food is discounted, give what's left over as a tip to the driver.

I base it is on hot the pizza is when I get it (has it been left in the warmer the whole time) and how close it came to scheduled delivery time. Usually 4-5 $

I used to deliver pizza, after I tell you what's involved you might think differently about how much to tip.
First of all you get paid the same as a waiter, below minimum wage like $3 hr. You have to use your own car, you don't get reimbursed for gas and if you get into an accident or a speeding ticket it's all on you.
Secondly, you have to go out in all types of weather and drive to places you never been to in the dark. If you get lost or get stuck in traffic too bad for you. If you get short changed by a customer and you don't catch it, it comes out of your pay.
The pizza companies also don't ever mention tipping in their ads and they stress free delivery! If you don't tip the driver it doesn't affect the pizza company's profit one bit.
