I know someone whose name is Sheila, but it's pronounced "Shay-la", instead of "Sheel-a". I thought that was so cute.

it is not that unique, that's the way spanish speakers pronounce the name. if a sheila goes to spain or south america, everybody will call her "Shay-la"

Very cute. Yes I have heard of "sheel-a" and I know a girl named Shaylee but have not heard of "shay-la" before. Just be careful if you name your child this and spell it that way because you will be correcting people all the time because they will probably call her "shee-la". Just a thought!

Just sounds like Sheila with an Aussie accent!

I would spell it out Shayla if I hoped people in US would pronounce it that way.

I think if the baby's name is Shayla, they should spell it that way. Who would pronounce it Shayla if it was spelled Sheila? I don't think anyone in the US would.

I think it's a nice name, but people will probably mispronounce it unless you change the spelling. =D
