Because people who curse a lot tend to lean on those curse words to express everything. The most dynamic curse word "the F word", can be conjugated to be used as a verb, an adjective, and a noun. Those are three basic parts of speech, and one word takes care of them all. See where the limitations come in?

It's because the person doing the cursing apparently can't think up better word choices, presumably due to a limited vocabulary, and must resort to profanity to express himself rather than more accurate and descriptive terms. In short, he's BORING to listen to because he only knows two or three words, and uses them ALLLLLLLLL the time!

Vocab is more the mere number of words. As state previously, it's the quality of the words coming out of one's mouth that exhibits the extent of one's vocabulary and knowledge. There's not thought process is throwing out numerous curse words.

Because people who curse alot tend to use these words very frequently, and not to use too many other words. Fin winds up in most sentences as an adjective, without other adjectives, for example. If you don't know any good words to use, just F it.

Usually parents or adults say that to younger people as a way to make them stop using bad words. Personally, I think it can make language more interesting, but of course, there IS a time and place for everything. Sometimes, it just isn't appropriate.

People often substitute "cursing" because it is common, and easy and they don't have to think of a better word. Probably they don't know the word to use, to express how they are feeling; or to explain their position;so they resort to using swear words. Definitely, it shows a lack of maturity and a good command of words.

"no clue. I'm a f*cking fountain of knowledge....

see? i added one more word to my sentence....without it, it would just have been 'no clue. i'm a fountain of knowledge'."

well, if she actually had an extensive vocabulary, she could have said "no clue. I'm a veritable fountain of knowledge," which has much more meaning that what she actually wrote (unless you take what she wrote literally, in which case it will give you quite an interesting mental image).

People tend to use curse words in places where they could use a variety of adjectives and adverbs and nouns which would more accurately express what it is that they are trying to articulate. They may make their sentences longer, but they don't add any actual meaning to them (at least in most cases).

Yes, they are words, but they are very low quality words. People with an expanded vocabulary don't need to use them because they have other words to use instead.

Now, do you f***ing understand this sh*t or not?

Just kidding.

My sister says I cuss for IMPACT...its true. If I need to get my point across, somehow using a F*CK here or a DAM* IT there tends to send the message effectively.
