Oh geeze. I come to this section to see if I should buy the Linksys WRT54G wireless router for my new PS3 and this is the question I see?

I have read quite a bit lately about routers. Apparently they're rather difficult to install, but as far as ease of installation goes Linksys is the way to go. Try resetting it. Try reinstalling it. Try the trouble-shooter on their website. Oh, and don't forget to update the firmware.

The first thing that you should check is if your computer can get to the router, and then if your router can get to the internet.

First I suggest that you unplug the router for a few minutes and then plug it back in. Also check to make sure all the cables are connected and not loose.

Then see if you can get to the router from your PC. You should be able to go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser. If you get the router administration screen, then the wireless part of it is working.

If you do not get to the administration screen, you might have set the IP address to something other than 192.168.1.1. If that is the case you can use the IP you selected or can press the reset button on the router to go back to the default settings. Usually the default IP address, admin username, and password are printed on the bottom of the router.

Once you are connected, the next thing to do is check the status of the WAN. You should see that you are "connected". If you do not there should be a button to "release DHCP". This will drop the connection to the internet and then you can "renew DCHP" to reconnect.

If the release and renew above does not work, you will need to look at the error message you are getting and proceed from there.

Are you running anything like a music downloader program when downloading and sharing files it will slow down your connection speed. if thats not a problem then just check your connections then unplug both power cables to your modem and router and restart your computer after desktop loads plug in your modem and wait untill the lights stop blinking for the most part then plug the power back into your router and wait agian to untill the lights come on this should solve your problem i have the same router and every so often i have to do a reset like that to get it working agian ,sort of got tired of waiting to talk and not understand the people from india for tech support.

Well first of all you want to make sure that no one is stealing your bandwidth/Internet from you so make sure that you secure your wireless network with WEP/WPA.

Make sure you ARE connected to your own wireless network and not someone else's.

Make sure your Wireless networking is not disabled.

Make sure that you're in range of the router to get signal.

Unplug the router's power and plug it back in and re-set it.

I'm sure your Router is fine but maybe your laptop/desktop is misconfigured, etc.

If you need any help or have any Qs, send me a message.

Good luck!
