ok I know that I will need a router, is there anything else? I have a laptop with wireless b and g. I was going to buy me this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124010 from walmart for the same price as newegg.com but I was needing to know if that is all that I will need to have to connect to the internet.

thanks

I came here to ask if this exact model is the way to go. I just got the PS3 and need to go wireless. The consensus seems to be this is the easiest and most effective model for residential use.

Hi, all you will need is the wireless router and obviously the internet connection. All you do is plug the modem into the wireless router and wallah! You will prob just need to do a little bit of setting up so no one else taps into your wireless internet connection, but thats about it. Hope this helps.

Check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to see if using a third party router is acceptable. Most likely it is. You will need to clone the MAC address, and on occasion register the router with your ISP.

Additionally, good choice on the router. Linksys is the most popular brand for home networking hardware, and rightfully so. Linksys provides a fairly intuitive set-up process for home Wi-FI, so you'll be fine. Be sure to encrypt your network, new Linksys should do this by default.

If you dont have an ethernet card already installed in the computer then you will need that as well otherwise your computer will not pick up the signal.
