All wrong. There was no set American flag at the time.
The history of the earliest flags adopted by Colonial and Revolutionary fighters includes the Pine Tree "Appeal to Heaven" flag, Fort Moultrie flag, Culpeper flag, and Rhode Island Regiment flag.
The most prominent and numerous flags during and directly after the war included a rattlesnake and read "Don't Tread On Me." Another read, "Live Free Or Die."
The Army preferred its regimental flags on the battlefield instead of the Stars and Stripes. A popular form of the U.S. flag that was used in battle had the obverse (front) of the Great Seal in the canton. The Army also used the Stars and Stripes with 13 stars in a circle. The Stars and Stripes was not officially used in Army artillery units until 1834, and not in infantry units until 1842.

The first flag with stars had thirteen stars, arranged in a circle on a blue background, as you see them today. There's a legend that it was sewn by a woman named Betsey Ross, but that has pretty much been debunked; still a sort of fun story on the order of Washington and his cherry tree-chopping antics ;-)
