Pretty much anything by Agatha Christie! She was the best puzzlemaker in all of mystery writing.

If you like contemporary mysteries try Kathy Reichs or Elizabeth George. Both are prolific writers with many novels to their credit.

well it depends, do you want regular mystery, romantic suspense, suspense, horror, sci fi? For Mystery I like Sue Grafton (any of her alphabet series is good), JoAnne Fluke (murdershebaked.com), James Patterson (either the women murder series or the Alex Cross Series), Clive Cussler (any of the Dirk Pitt novels, my favorite is Treasure), Lisa Scottoline (Dirty Blonde was good), for romantic suspense Lisa Jackson is my all time favoirite, Shiver is a great book and its sequal Absolute Feal is good too, for suspense I like Dean Koontz. Now if you are wanting a good mystery that you can laugh through as well Sophie Kingsland (I think) is good (my favorite book by her is Undomestic Goddess) and Janet Evanvich's Stephanie Plum novels. These two are authors that keep you guessing and keep you laughing.

I guess it really isn't a mystery, but it is a page turner. The book is called Twilight by Stephine Meyer. It is about a girl who decides to move in with her dad for a year and meets a guy. Eventually Bella (that is the girl's name) finds out that he is a vampire and it is really exciting. It isn't cheesy or boring. I love this book!

Try the series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child that starts with the first book RELIC. Then go from there. Great reads. Or read anything by Matthew Reilly or Jack DuBrul. Enjoy!!

It might sound "kiddish" but R.L Stine's books are very appealing. My favorite of his is Blind Date. Its a very good book. His other books are also wonderful.
