What good is being "extremely intelligent and educated", if you're not going to do something with it?
Also, if you are going to be a "leader", that kind of requires that you go first. She put her country's health ahead of her own. Most people can't do that.
Don't mistake her bravery for anything less, she knew what the stakes were. Unfortunately, they always shoot the Idealists first.
She understood that the nation was even more at risk than she was, and accepted the challenge. The question now is, is anyone else in the country ready to carry that burden?

I think she saw martyrdom as the way to ultimitly get what she was fighting for. As an American it is amazing to me in that culture that people seem so willing to die.

Because she thought she could make a difference and it was worth the risk. If everybody ran the other way when islamic extremist fruitcakes bark then they would soon rule the world.

The position of power can be a very enticing thing. Its not like she did not know the risks and there had already been an attempt.

She did everything for Pakistan ppl, she fights for democracy. Watch CNN tonight, they will have a rerun interview of her back in Oct.

She was an easy target for various enemies.

Because she believed that she could do the most good out among her supporters. Obviously it got her killed, but she believed that no good Muslim would kill her, and in all fairness, I think she was right.

it wasnt martyrdom! she's a politician and she was doing what politicians do, being friendly. she was assasinated
