I substituted for a high school class that put a raw whole egg in its shell into a cup of vinegar and it dissolved the shell entirely, leaving a membrane that showed the yolk clearly visible. The egg had shrunk in volume. Then they put the egg into a cup of corn syrup and it increased in volume. Very interesting and easy to duplicate.

TAke BrY's idea with the biodegradable thing, but use more things than just a sandwich. Use:

1) sandwich

2) piece of fruit - apple or banana would be good

3) paper plate

4) styrofoam cup

I had an idea, about the science fair. You can do a project about how much resistance to wind an object has. You would need to have several different shaped pieces of wood, and a fan with many different levels. A barometer would also help to measure the wind speed. From there, you apply the different levels of wind on the different shapes of wood, and measure which one lasts the longest, and the wind Resistance of the other shapes.

I would have to have more details about your project before I could suggest materials and so forth. You need to post your question again and provide more information, such as what the project is about, what you already have done, etc. Then that could give us some more ideas about what you need to complete it.

There's a cool exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art of an artist named Olafur Eliasson. He uses science and mathematics to make "art". You should check it out: http://www.olafureliasson.net/selected_works/sw_4_1.html

the volcano erupting with baking soda and vinegar
-OR-
how does caffeine affect your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature)
you can test people by using caffeinated and caffeine- free pepsi
and see which one affects the test subject most, (obviously caffeinated)
you should organize your data in a data table, and make sure you test ppl at around the same age group, and test the caffeinated pepsi on a different day than the caffeine-free one and wait atleast a half hour for the caffeine to activate
test the temp with thermometer, BP and heart rate with the digital BP monitor

hope that helps
