It's way too much. Try to find a place that rebuilds them and have yours rebuilt if possible. I had an older GM alternator rebuilt for $45. Some are cheaper to throw away the rebuilder said and hpoefully your isn't a throw away.

You don't say what year, or the brand of the alternator, but some rebuilts are about $230, a Nissan brand new alternator could be quite a bit more. We are only guessing, because you have given incomplete information. The last alternator I put in was expensive, but included 2 years full roadside service, towing, boosting, flats, gas delivery, etc, and the problem didn't have to be related to the alternator, either.

After market alternators are around $120.00 and I can't imagine $380.00 for labor. A Nissan alternator is probably $200.00 to $300.00 for factory new parts. Find out if the alternator is new or reconditioned/rebuilt. Most local garages go for after market rebuilt parts so they can earn a living and help a customer save on repairs.

That's a lot for an alternator. I just got one for my 4 wheel drive Ford expedition for $169. Get one at NAPA or Pep Boys.

It depends on the brand, if you had a friend do it, it would probably be cheaper cause there wouldnt be no labor
