Because they are one of the above, people feel guilty for destroying their habitat, and would like for their children to be able to see one themselves too.

When a specific species population falls below a chosen level, usually chosen by biologists, zoologists, etc. they are placed on the endangered or threatened species list. The reasoning is that there is a possibility that the species can not reproduce at a level higher than the rate of mortality.

because their population is extremely and we could see them die out so we label them endangered so that they can have some actual protection from humans. and like in the case of the american alligator, even though they have a pretty high poplation they are still on the threatened list to help protect the highly endangered american crocodile.

Because they are some need help and some it is to late for them take a moment to think that we could have helped them and saved more animals
