Its sad how on older cars its easy to change them yourself but now day the factories make them so difficult to get to that you have to pay a professional to do it because you don't have the tools!

It is beyond simple to change pads and rotors on the E46.
If it takes 20 minutes per wheel, it's a lot.
goto E46Fanatics.com
There is a DIY (do it yourself) section. it will explain the entire process from start to finish, even where to buy parts for the lowest price.
Personally I prefer Brembo rotors and Axxis Deluxe pads. They are completely dustless and will not leave the ugly brake dust residue you always see on the front wheel of most BMWs.
If you take to an independent service, expect to pay about $250 in labor + parts (which I recommend you buy yourself even if you have someone else do the work)
If you take it to a BMW dealer, plan to pay about $700-900.
Good Luck

Here in the US a BMW dealer charges about $1000.00
An independent shop will be a few hundred dollars less.

have a look at europarts for the costs of the parts.. they do every make / model of car
as for fitting .. not sure. if you can afford that car, hopefully you can afford the maintenance.. depends how how long it takes to take the whole thing apart, they charge by the hour.

Go to bavauto.com and you'll see all the parts prices up there.
Your neighborhood garage will probably charge you 2.5 to 3 labor hours for the job.
But read this too before you send it in to a dealer...
