Also is the movie based on all the books or just the first one? Thank you.

Definately worth seeing. I loved it. They changed some things, but the changes were understandable. It's just based on th first book, and I'm hoping that they'll finish the trilogy. =)

You know, I actually have not read the books however; upon seeing the movie, I am all about reading the books now. I enjoyed the movie and can only imagine what the book has to offer!

The movie is worth seeing. It is based on the first book. Actually, it is based on 7/8 of the first one, because it stops short of Lord Asriel severing a daemon from a human in order to unleash great power to enter other worlds. Lyra survives, but does not actually "walk up into the sky."
I recommend that you see it.
