I've found a stock certificate from "Utah Galena Oil Corp" from '53, how do I find out if it's worth anything?

The company was registered in Utah County. You can try contacting the Recorder's office to see if they know anything. My guess is that they've merged with someone else. You can contact the Recorders' office at:

You might want to try contacting a stock broker, and let him do the research for you. The yellow pages should be fullof brokers.
