VACUUM VACUUM VACUUM!!!!! Its the best, cheapest way to get rid of them. I had an infestation and it took a while but vacuuming several times a day and flea bombs worked. Just be sure to cover any plants, animals or fish tanks securely. There are also powders in the pet departments at retail store that you can sprinkle on your floors and vacuum up later that work ok. You can also put a little bit of dish soap or dandruff shampoo in water in a pie pan and put a lamp 3 or 4 inches above it on the floor and the fleas will be attracted to the light, jump at it, and fall in the soapy water and die.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to spray a mixture of boric acid and salt. Boric acid acts as a desiccant and dries out the exoskeleton of the flea, but does not have any side effect on human beings.

Vaccuums kill 98% of fleas that they suck up. Just vaccuum, it's the cheapest.
Now if those bites were bedbugs, you should be able to find them in the folds of the sheets where it attaches to the mattress.
If it's spider bites, just wash the bedding.
If it's lice, you should be able to see them on the sheets too.

If you have not seen the fleas, then it may not be fleas. Fleas in a house with no animals is pretty rare.
Or, you may have a mouse or rat infestation that you do not know about. They also carry fleas.

you could mix pinesol with water and spray in on the carpet then vacuum. 1 part pinesol; 3 parts water. it won't hurt your carpet and it'll kill fleas and ants. and pinesol is about 3 bucks for 1 pint. store brand is cheaper and works just as well.
