Depending on where you are, a realistic looking owl will also help. A combination of this and the above should do the trick. Also consider a motion light (with a fluorescent bulb of course) in the mix. Try to determine the natural predator for the type of birds you have and place a replica or scent.

Get a fake owl and/or a recording of bird sounds. I went to a berry farm this summer and that was what they did to keep the birds away from their crops.

If you have birds coming into your shed, you might have something they like to eat (spiders, grain, insects). Depends on the sort of bird.
Hovering birds will eat the insects for you. Then they will go They might be worth encouraging?
Swooping birds will hit themselves on windows and might get trapped and die. You don't want them. Cats will keep them away.

Get a roll up screen from home depot or other hardware store its like chicken wire with in a roll up style like a mini blind that way when u need it open u can pull it down n it will roll up out of the way.
