I currently have 2 512mb ram sticks of the same time so its dual channel but i have 2 slots open i was wondering if i added 2 more 1GB sticks of the same type would everything be dual channel

but i was meaning since i have 2 512 CARDS that are the same and i have 4 slots 2 black 2 white

i have the 2 512mb cards in the 2 white and i want to put the 2 1GB cards in the black for 3g.it should still be dual channel right

Yup, as long as you add them in pairs you will retain Dual Channel status, which usually gives you an overall system performance boost of 3-5%.

If you want to maintain the Duel Channel operation all of the memory cards should be the same. So in your situation I would purchase two more 512 memory cards. Or just run the two one gig sticks in the slots that are now occupied by the pair of 512s. 2 gigs should be plenty. That all I run in a Vista environment, and it works just fine.
