Let's see.

Venezuela? No, Chavez doesn't have a clue.

India? They're not that advanced, yet. Maybe someday.

China? They have been in space, true, but do they have that kind of technology?

France? Give Sarkozy enough time, and maybe...

Russia? Give me a break!

Mexico? No, their best people are all here, working illegally.

Canada? No, a rocket ship blasting off would melt all the igloos for miles around.

I guess that leaves the good ol' U.S.A.

As usual.

Funny how they hate us, until they need us, isn't it?

Happy New Year!

Luxembourg. I know I would.

Who do you think? It's a throw-up, I think...

We've got the UN who probably wouldn't reach a multilateral position until after the 'roid hits.

We've got Russia, who'd probably tell their people it was a Western joke and not to believe them. Then, they'd go hide in all those silos they got.

We've got China, who would probably wonder how much coal is in the asteroid. Heck, they probably attracted it in the first place!

And finally, the US. Half the country would say it was because of global warming, and the other half would disagree, saying that 'Little Timmy couldn't see it in his telescope; it can't be there!' And then the government would go into deliberation, and then the military would make a plan against the wishes of the intelligence community, and in the interim, we all place bets on what's going to happen. Oh, and that's when the world agrees that it's because of global warming, and we all drive fuel efficient vehicles, driving the asteroid away because Al Gore flew his plane into it.
For a hero...

The greatest nation in the world, the USA! Of course we're also the country most of the rest also love to hate because we are so prosperous and have the freedoms we do! I don't believe any other country has nearly as high a percentage of legal immigrants as America; nor does any other country have any where near the percentage *or* number of illegal immigrants! We need to remember that! But, Hollywood and the Defeat-o-crats also need to stop bashing the US, or get out of our great country along with the gangsters and thugs who are mostly running things in the UN, with mostly United States funding!

None. Only one country--the United States--has the required technological capability.

Or we used to, before the GOP spent 12 years gutting the space program. Right now, we do not have the resources to stop an asteroid. NOr is the existing program as set up by Bush and the GOP going to be able to provide those resouces.

So--no one will turn to any country to "savethe world"--because politicians in the only one that can have alolowed that capability to deteriorate past the point any thing coud be done.

Oh--and for the neocons this answer will annoy: if an asteroid does head this way--entirely possible---political rhetoric, ideology, and "spin" won't help. It will smash your butts into the ground anyway. It won't care what you think or who you blame. It won't care at all.

The USA of course, and more likely than not, some would even find a warped way to try to blame us for the asteroid.

Hmmm, that's not tough, but it's also not easy, whenever there is an imminent disaster all eyes turn to the US and if the US doesn't respond fast enough, they don't care enough about the world ~ you know the saying "darned if you do, darned if you don't". I think it's time for another country to take the reigns. . .

The EU. In case you don't realize this..the US has fallen BIG time. Science has been squelched and the contractors in Iraq has caused such a huge deficit there is no coming back from it. Crap, we can't even rescue our own people during a hurricane and the aftermath it left. We were able to video tape people starving and dieing from dehydration, but not able to get ANY of the essentials to them.

The EU encourages science and has one of the strongest currencies currently.

The answer lies in the movie "Armageddon".

And Boy! "Crabby" certainly lives up to his name. Can't we all just have a beer and talk about football? All this hostility is harshing my mellow.
