What do Barry Bonds's fans think?

As I told you in the other post where you labeled me a bonds man, they should all be treated the same from start to finish. From the point of speculation, to conviction.

But on the real, yes, he is being singled out because he is white. Not by the govt, but by the media. This is their chance, now that he has been implicated, to say, "see, we treat white players just the same we do black players". Time will tell if he gets dragged through the mud as hard as Bonds was, but, yes, the media has twisted this one back around.
Kind of hard for most people to think that someone white can be singled out, but it does happen

I think ALL of this enhancement ridicule is nonsense. It amazes me how something is either ignored or accepted until a minute number of people DECIDE that THEY think that it's wrong, and then it ISN'T OK anymore.

Bodybuilders have been on steroids since the practice was introduced. Are we going to take back Mr. Universe from Arnold or Franco for "using" NOW that it's not sanctioned?

If fat burners and protein shakes "become" illegal, will we all stop "using"? I think that people that wish they could have had such "leverage" when they were attempting to play a sport are the same people that put these "laws" together to stop their use.

Boxing is brutal, but we're almost at a point where two consenting athletes may have to fight with headgear because "someone might get hurt". I don't condone people destroying one another for our entertainment, but I condone people being responsible for what they do with THEMselves one MILLION percent. No club owner wants to be responsible for what an athlete has, COMPLETELY, decided to do to entertain his followers or to maintain his effectiveness to make a lucrative pay check. They shouldn't be responsible for what isn't hurting ANYONE but the athlete. If a sword swallower in the circus decides to add fire to the sabers, should the circus be responsible for the performer's attempt to entertain the fans? Would the circus be responsible for a mishap that occurred with or without the fire? Would they have to "pony" up cash to have counseling for all six hundred patrons so they wouldn't get sued for the trauma of the event? Yes, the event that a person WILLINGLY PAID to witness.

When DOES this nonsense end? I rest my case.

Roger Clemens is a bigger name than Gary Sheffield. Thats why Clemens has more media attention. and Clemens was big news last year because he was gonna sign with either boston or new york. Sheffield hasn't done much to get into the spot light recently.

For one, Roger Clemens isn't being singled out...I believe there were quite a few names on that list. He is however, a huge name, so therefore it is easy to point him out amongst the rest, just like Barry Bonds...I always thought of Roger Clemens as the greatest pitcher, bar none...but now it raises speculation, and I believe he may, as the Trentonian said, have taken it in the butt...

It's been known for years that Sheffield took steroids- he admitted to taking the cream or the clear with Bonds.

The media is making a big to do about Clemens because he is arguably the games greatest pitcher, and now we find out he's been taking steroids for 10 years or more. It has NOTHING to do with race.

I don't think that Clemens is being singled out. I think that his being white and liked by the media has kept him from scrutinized till now. One could make the same claims about Roger that have been made about Bonds for years now. How come your question doesn't ask if Bonds was singled out because he is black?

Barry Bonds was singled out because he is the greatest player in our era, but he was also singled out because he is black. Any person on this forum who says otherwise is ignorant. Barry Bonds did deny using steroids. However, the media took the approach of guilty until proven Innocent. Roger "the great white hope" Clemons on the other hand, is Innocent until proven innocent.

Oh, yeah -- that's it. Yep. Us white people are in for it now. After all summer long of bashing Barry Bonds and the people here on Y/A lavishing Gary Sheffield and, incomprehensibly, Manny Ramirez with all kinds of abuse, the truth comes out. It's time to get Whitey. You're right. OR -- MAYBE -- YA SUPPOSE -- it might not be a race thing at all?

I'm not a fan of Barry Bonds, I can tell you Roger Clemens is being singled out because he is arguably the greatest pitcher the game has ever seen and now his career acheivements may have been accomplished by cheating. It's a big deal. That's why he's being singled out. Palmeiro was singled out, so was Sammy Sosa. Does that mean they were signled out because they were hispanic or Latino? NO. It's about Clemens because of his stature as one of the game's greatest EVER.

Bonds and Clemens were both singled out because they are the best at what the do and the average fan always has more interest in the best. It is really as simple as that and I believe it is a very small minority that believes race is the driving force.
