Wouldn't it be nice if we all went out ice skating together and held on to eachother so that noone falls?

I actually do know some folks in their late 70's early 80's do ice skate AND compete (there is a whole world of adult skating).

You can actually go to a "coffee club" or a similar adult session at the rink (usually about noon). Very social - filled with adult skaters only of all ages/levels.

Read about this lady, she is 81 years YOUNG

and watch her skate here:

Go out there and give it a go - wink!!!!!!!!

If you get around good and have been skating I think you can . I went ice skating for the first time in 30 years , two years ago at our new indoor ice rink , and had a grand time . No I didn't fall, I used to skate very well and you don't forget it. I go every once in a while , not as often as I'd like . it's great exercise . I'm not 80 but I'm well over 60. I'll go.

I couldn't even ice skate @ the age of 10..never had ice to skate on..tried to learn when I was 30, the ankles said "öh, no"! So therefore I am sure when I get to be 80 I will not be able to ice skate..too bad. I really would need you to help hold me up so I didn't fall..thanks for the offer..

I can't Ice skate now. It is always something I've dreamed of doing ever since I was a little girl. I don't think my ankles are strong enough to learn to ice skate. I've broken one and sprained the other twice. It does sound like a nice idea. I wish I could.

I know of a man who roller skated and then changed to ice skating. He was still ice skating until age 89. Now he enjoys watching.
I am age 67 and also roller and ice skated until a few years ago. I had back surgery with a spinal fusion. I feel it is too risky to skate now, but I really do miss it.

There was a gentleman in the city where I live who skated well into his 90s. He'd entered senior olympics and won quite a few catagoreys.

One of my mum's friends skated until she was in her mid 70s when she fell and broke her hip.

If you've always been athletic and kept yourself in shape, why shouldn't you be able to skate or do any other kind of athletics well into your 80s or 90s.

I couldn't skate as a child, still can't.

I love to roller skate, but living in Minnesota you would think I would know how to ice skate. That would be great fun to all hold hands and hold each other up. peace in 2008

Maybe you can, but I've never been able to ice skate. I was pretty good at roller skating many years ago though.

Most 80 year old people have brittle bones which makes ice skating kind of dangerous for them. Might be better to watch.
