No not wrong. Keep doing just that. Your son will notice and also notice his fathers behavior. One day it will come back to haunt him.

My husband has always taken his daughter to get gifts for her mother on Christmas, her birthday, and Mothers Day. And because his ex is always 'having a hard time right now' I made sure his daughter had money to buy her dads gifts on like occasions. I think it is just a good example for your kids, even if it isn't reciprocated. Your son will understand and appreciate the gesture later.

I totally agree with Poppy.
Kids are not dumb; and your son will see how you act versus how his dad acts.
BTW, I also do what you do. I take my son shopping and he chooses his dad's Father's Day gift, Xmas gift, and birthday gift too.
The fact we didn't make it as a couple doesn't mean we hate each other; and my child understands this...and is grateful for not having to deal with unpleasant situations.
(I'm lucky my ex does the same thing for me, and takes our son shopping for my gifts.) Keep it up! Your son will be a nice man in the future.

No, it is not wrong! You are just showing your son how to be nice and loving and giving. The son will be a better person because of this. Good luck and happy holidays to you : )

No matter if you are divorced, you are still family. I think it is wonderful of you to think of him, and to make such a sweet gesture on behalf of his son.
If his new wife has a problem with it - she's a grinch =)

I think you are doing the right thing by showing your son that you are the bigger person. Men don't think like women, so don't expect them too. Your son will recognize in t he long run what you did for him for his sake, and thank you for it.

I don't see how. You will always be his mother and the new woman in your ex's life knew that when she got married to him. I think it's sweet.
