Start with the easy table foods, like mashed potatoes, boiled carrots and other veggies. If you are concerned you can also try the Gerber Graduates, they have an entire line of foods. Once you see what she is able to eat from that, then it is easier to decide which table foods to give her. My daughter was around 7 mos when I switched her, but she was a quick learner. My niece is 9 mos and my sister is still very cautious about giving her table food. Talk to your pediatrician and tell them that you are wanting to start table foods. They will give you a good review of what's safe. Just stick with softer stuff and keep the seasonings to a minimum and you should be fine. Good Luck.

6-8 Months - Baby Let's Begin to Eat
"Baby" cereal and soft cooked thinly pureed fruits and veggies should be baby's first solid food experiences.
Single ingredients only and at a space of 4 days apart with introducing each new food.
You may skip the cereal and begin with a fruit like avocado or begin with a veggie like butternut squash or sweet potato.

That's about when I started table foods. A cracker here, cheerio there and then every week or so add something I think she can handle. She's 10 months tomorrow and she likes noodles w/ any kind of sauce, cheerios, crackers, vanilla wafers, turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, boil potato and carrot chunks, bananas, broccoli, grill cheese. We're still working on it. Anytime she seems interested in something on my plate I let her try it, so long as I deem it fit to dissolve in her mouth. She refuses baby foods 50% of the time now and wants what mommy is eating. She gets that look down her nose at my plate with her head tilted back, like "whats that momma, sure looks good". That is always a sign that they are ready to try.

i started my son a little earlier than you... he is on some table foods now and he is 6 and a half months old. mostly mashed potatoes and soft stuff. he prefers table foods to baby foods anyday! but we took it slow with single ingredient foods then moved into things that were mixed with foods he had already eaten. green beans are not his favorite baby food but he loves them mashed up from the table. i knew he wasnt allergic to baby food green beans so i simply boiled regular green beans with no seasoning. thats how we started almost everything off the table. gradually i worked in some different things to make sure there were no allergies. i also asked my sons ped., he said that babies are people too; just smaller people. they have smaller tummies but not alien tummies. babies can handle more than you give the credit for.

Both my boys started on baby food around 4 months, and by 1 year were mostly on table foods. As others have said, just start them off on the softer foods till they have enough teeth to handle foods with more texture. My boys both got to the point where they refused the baby food anymore; that's how I knew to make the switch. :)
